My newest collection of mixed media original paintings launches tomorrow and I am beyond excited to share these with you all!
This collection was inspired by our recent travels to the Bahamas. During the summer of 2017 my husband and I booked a cruise for February 2018. We even convinced my parents to come along (for their first cruise and tenth anniversary!) and we all counted down the months until we would finally get to go on vacation.
January 2018 came along and proved to be full of challenges. We seriously considered cancelling the cruise. We had no idea when we booked the vacation that it would come along in what we thought was terrible timing. We went back and forth for a week on whether or not we should really go on this trip or not, and thankfully ended up going (leaving a few stressful situations up in the air at home).
I also decided to pack up a few art supplies and a sketchbook to take with us. Again, I started to second guess this decision because my bags were getting too full and I wasn't sure if I'd even want to paint while on vacation. Maybe I needed a break from that too? I decided to shove everything into my bags anyways, even if all it did was take up more space. At least I had the option!
Something about being surrounded by ocean really does help to let go of worries AND get even more inspired to create. Painting outdoors, sunshine beaming down, bright colors everywhere, stress pushed aside for a while...the recipe for bringing these paintings to life! I ended up painting 10 sketches while on the trip which then inspired these 12 original paintings that will be available for y'all tomorrow!
Created with love, watercolor paints, shimmery pastels, crayon, white ink, and black ink on 5x7 inch watercolor paper. Each painting will also come with a white mat to fit an 8x10 inch frame. You can then choose which way you'd like to display your vibrant new art!
February is turning out to be a whole lot better than January, that's for sure. My heart is filled with gratitude for God's beauty, answered prayers, opportunity to travel, and opportunity to share my art with the world! Hope you all enjoy and stay tuned!
